The oldest settlement in Scotland dating from Ad 139 when the Romans invaded Scotland a second time
They decided to establish a fort to act as a supply port for their army to protect the southern shore.
They enlisted 500 men and their fort spread over 6 acres of land in Cramond.
Cramond was an important Industrial centre in the 1700s and 1800s by 1799 the village had 3 iron forges and 3 water powered mills producing steel which was exported as far away as India.
Markets changed and the mills changed to pulp |Mills in the 1800s.
Today it’s a lovely place to visit its kept all its charm and is a well kept secret gem.
